Catalans Dragons take on Wigan Warriors in Paris: Vote for the best-ever French Super League player

Super League has another landmark moment this weekend when Catalans Dragons take on Wigan Warriors in Paris in what marks a celebration of the French outfit's 20 years in the competition.

For two decades the Dragons have brought their flair to Super League, and they will now will face off against one of Super League's giants at Stade Jean Bouin, home of Stade Français and Paris FC.

In their time in the top flight Catalans have made it to two Grand Finals in 2021 and 2023, plus won the League Leaders' Shield in 2021.

They also secured a historic 2018 Challenge Cup win when they beat Warrington Wolves in the final.

Acknowledging the significance of the event, Wigan CEO Kris Radlinski said: "This match represents more than just a game; it's another chapter in Wigan's journey to take rugby league to new audiences and iconic venues around the world."

With such a huge celebration on the horizon, and with so many French superstars who have graced the competition, it is time for YOU to decide who the greatest-ever French Super League player is.

We have whittled it down to 10 options for you...

Catalans Dragons' all-time leading points scorer with 243 appearances across 12 seasons for the club, Thomas Bosc goes down as a trailblazer for French rugby league.

A member of the side that started out for the Dragons in their first season back in 2006, the international is fondly remembered for his pinpoint accurate goalkicking and was a central figure in Catalans' ascendancy to becoming a side that could compete for trophies.

Indeed, that accuracy with the boot saw him become the first player to reach 1000 points for Catalans.

Remi Casty had two stints in Super League with Catalans, playing 188 times from 206-2013 before adding another 149 appearances from 2015-2020 after spending the 2014 season in the NRL with Sydney Roosters.

Renowned as a tough ball carrier, Casty always brought the firepower his side needed and helped put them on the front foot with big metres.

Of course, he featured when Catalans won the Cup in 2018 and not only that, he retired on a high too after helping fellow French outfit Toulouse Olympique secure promotion to Super League back in 2021.

A player that needs no introduction - Ben Garcia has done it, and is still doing it, in Super League.

Garcia started out for the Dragons in 2013, making his debut against Leeds Rhinos.

As their captain, he has remained steadfast on their steady climb towards trophies and got his rewards in 2018 at the Cup. He also featured in both Grand Final losses.

A hard hitter, Garcia makes his statement when on the field and is the epitome of a leader.

Before helping grow the Catalans Dragons, Jerome Guisset was already a solid figure in Super League after spending five seasons with Warrington and then a season with Wigan.

Known for his consistency, the prop forward did the hard yards for his side across 141 appearances for the club.

From 2006-2010, he simply was a stalwart figure for Catalans.

Hailing from Avignon, Tony Gigot had a career that spanned rugby league's biggest club competitions.

After starting out at Catalans in 2010, he played for Toulouse Olympique, SO Avignon, Cronulla Sharks, London Broncos, Toronto Wolfpack, Wakefield Trinity and Albi.

With a career across Super League, the NRL, and the Super XIII, Gigot's most sustained period at a club came in his second spell at Catalans from 2015-2019 when he made 129 appearances.

Most notably, he picked up the Lance Todd Trophy in the side's Challenge Cup win, becoming the first French player to win the award.

A player who currently stars for Hull KR and was a key member in their historic quadruple, Arthur Mourgue is a full-back who is nifty and elusive on his feet in attack, but also has the bravery in defence to back it up.

At just 27 years of age, Mourgue has 131 appearances to his name at Catalans and Hull KR.

He has appeared in three Grand Finals, winning one of them as Willie Peters' side defeated Wigan in 2025, and does not look like he will be slowing down.

An integral member of the side that helped St Helens on their journey to four Super League Grand Final victories in a row, Theo Fages is known as the half-back that guides his side around the field.

His kicking game was integral to the style of play Saints had at that time and he was always reliable, doing his job to the highest level to help ensure his side's dominance.

Thanks to that, he has won two Super League titles and a Challenge Cup.

He currently plays for Pia in the Super XIII.

A one-club man, Gregory Mounis spent his entire decade-long career with Catalans and made some history in that time too.

Indeed, he was the first French captain of the Dragons when he was handed the honour in 2007 and was a constant for the side until his retirement in 2016.

He was considered the best loose forward the club has produced and it is easy to see why.

A prop forward every Super League fan knows, for nearly 15 years Julian Bousquet has been helping to dominate for the Dragons.

Bousquet joined back in 2012 and has since made over 300 appearances for the French outfit, picking up a Challenge Cup and a League Leaders' Shield on the way.

Simply one of the history-makers for the side and a key member of the French international outfit too.

Laurent Fraysinnous may be known more now for his coaching career, but he also had a playing career in which he helped grow French rugby league.

One of his standout moments actually came on the international stage. Fraysinnous played against Australia in 2005 and managed to score a try and kick two goals.

He was key in Catalans' first season, too, as they looked to make their mark.
